Introduction

Xmentra helps people learn a language. This Disclaimer explains what that help is, and what it is not.

It is written plainly and without alarm. Its purpose is to make our boundaries clear before you rely on anything here for a decision that matters: an examination, an application, a job, or a move to another country.

This Disclaimer owns the description of the educational scope and limits of the Platform. It forms part of the Terms of Use (/terms), which own the contractual terms, warranties, liability, and governing law, and it does not repeat them. Data practices are owned by the Privacy Policy (/privacy).

1. Definitions

These definitions are shared across all Xmentra legal documents and are reproduced without modification.

• Platform — the Xmentra website at https://xmentra.com, together with any applications, subdomains, and interfaces operated by Xmentra.
• Services — all functionality offered through the Platform, including lessons, learning experiences, vocabulary, grammar, listening, revision, progress tracking, the educational blog, and any features added later.
• AI Features — any part of the Services that uses automated language models or similar techniques to generate, adapt, evaluate, or respond to content, including the AI Mentor and AI Conversations when introduced.
• Content — any text, audio, image, code, exercise, translation, or other material available through the Platform, whether created by Xmentra, generated by AI Features, or submitted by a User.
• Educational Content — Content published by Xmentra for learning purposes, including lessons, learning experiences, explanations, audio, and blog articles.
• Mentor — the guiding instructional voice of the Platform, delivered through Educational Content and, where applicable, AI Features. A Mentor is not a certified teacher, examiner, translator, or adviser.
• Learning Data — information about a User's learning activity, such as lessons opened, experiences completed, confidence responses, saved vocabulary, and revision history.
• User — any person who accesses or uses the Platform, with or without an Account.
• Third Party Services — independent providers whose infrastructure or tools support the Platform, including hosting, analytics, and, where applicable, content delivery, payment, communication, and AI providers.

2. Educational Purpose

The Platform provides educational and language-learning resources. It exists to help you build understanding, usable phrases, listening comfort, and the confidence to speak.

Everything on the Platform is offered for that purpose. The Platform supports learning; it does not examine, certify, accredit, or advise, and it does not guarantee any particular result.

3. No Guarantee of Fluency

Language learning is personal, and its pace differs from one learner to another. Outcomes depend on factors that sit outside the Platform, including:

• how much effort you put in;
• how often you practise, and how consistently;
• what you already know, in this language and others;
• the environment you learn in, and the time available to you;
• individual ability, memory, and confidence;
• how much real-world exposure and conversation you get.

For that reason, the Platform does not promise fluency, a particular level, or a result within any particular period. Descriptions of what an experience or lesson helps you do are educational goals, not commitments about your outcome.

4. Examination Preparation

The Platform may publish material relevant to preparing for language proficiency examinations.

• Preparation material is educational. It is designed to build capability, not to reproduce an examination.
• Examination formats, scoring, and requirements can change, and are set by the organisation running the examination.
• Xmentra does not control, influence, or participate in the setting, marking, or administration of any examination.
• Results in practice activities on the Platform do not predict or guarantee an official examination result.
• You should verify current official examination requirements with the relevant examination provider before relying on any preparation plan.

Xmentra is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or accredited by any examination provider or examination body. Where an examination or an institution is named, it is named descriptively so that learners know what the material relates to.

5. Study Abroad and Admissions

The Platform may help you develop language skills relevant to studying in another country.

Xmentra does not determine, influence, or take part in decisions about:

• admission to any school, college, or university;
• eligibility for a programme or course;
• recognition of qualifications or credentials;
• scholarships, funding, or fee decisions;
• visa or residence outcomes connected to study.

Those decisions belong to institutions and authorities that apply their own criteria. Confirm requirements directly with them.

6. Immigration

Language learning is not immigration advice, and nothing on the Platform should be treated as advice about your immigration position.

• Immigration rules, thresholds, and procedures change, sometimes at short notice.
• Language requirements vary by country, route, and individual circumstances.
• Official authorities decide eligibility, not Xmentra.
• You should verify current requirements with the relevant official authority, or with a qualified adviser, before making decisions or payments.

The Platform describes language capability. It does not interpret immigration rules for your situation.

7. Career and Employment

The Platform may include material that helps you practise language used at work, such as interviews, introductions, workplace communication, professional vocabulary, and meetings.

Practising that language does not guarantee:

• employment, an offer, or an interview;
• success in an interview or assessment;
• a promotion, a salary level, or a contract;
• acceptance of your language ability by any employer or professional body.

Employers, regulators, and professional bodies apply their own standards and make their own decisions.

8. Legal, Financial, Medical, and Other Professional Matters

Learning a language means learning to talk about real life. Educational Content may therefore involve situations touching on healthcare, money, employment, legal matters, government procedures, or immigration — for example, the vocabulary for a doctor's appointment or a bank enquiry.

That material teaches language. It is not legal, financial, medical, tax, immigration, or other professional advice, and it is not a substitute for advice from a qualified professional who knows your circumstances. Where a decision matters, take advice from someone qualified to give it, and treat the Platform as help with the words rather than with the decision.

9. AI-Assisted Content

The Platform is AI-assisted. Where AI Features are used to generate, adapt, evaluate, or respond to Content, they may:

• produce information that is incorrect;
• misunderstand the context of a question;
• omit relevant information;
• present outdated information;
• produce answers that read fluently and confidently while being inaccurate.

Please use reasonable judgement with AI-assisted output, particularly before relying on it for anything consequential. Xmentra treats AI as assistance to judgement rather than a replacement for it, and maintains human oversight of how AI is used on the Platform. Certain AI-assisted content, systems, or outputs may be subject to human review, quality evaluation, testing, or other oversight where appropriate. That is not a guarantee that every AI-assisted output is individually reviewed by a person before you see it.

Detailed treatment of AI capability, limits, and responsibilities is owned by the AI & Educational Use Policy, which will be published as a separate document. This section states only the disclaimer.

10. What "Mentor" Means

"Mentor" describes the guiding instructional voice of the Platform. It is delivered through Educational Content and, where applicable, AI Features.

A Mentor is a teaching voice, not a professional relationship. In particular, a Mentor is not, and should not be understood as:

• a licensed or certified teacher, tutor, or examiner;
• a legal, immigration, medical, financial, or tax adviser;
• an accredited translator or interpreter;
• a guarantee that a human instructor is available to you.

Where a feature is delivered by AI Features rather than by a person, that is disclosed. Warmth in the mentor voice is a teaching choice; it does not create a professional or advisory relationship.

11. Accuracy of Educational Content

Xmentra aims to publish Educational Content that is useful, current, and accurate, and reviews it before publication.

Even so, language is not fixed. Usage varies by region, register, and situation; what is natural in one context can be odd in another; and material can become outdated as usage or requirements change. Errors can also occur.

Educational Content is therefore offered as careful guidance rather than as a guarantee of accuracy or completeness. If you find something that looks wrong, telling us at hello@xmentra.com genuinely helps.

12. Translation

Where translations, glosses, or explanations in another language are provided, they are teaching aids. A translation that is right for a learning example may be wrong for a different context, because meaning depends on register, region, and situation.

Translations available through the Platform should not be relied on for legal, medical, official, contractual, or other high-stakes use without independent verification by a qualified translator or the relevant authority. The Platform does not currently offer a general-purpose translation service.

13. Pronunciation and Audio

Where pronunciation examples or audio are provided, they are models for learning rather than a single correct standard.

Accents differ between countries, regions, and speakers. Natural speech is faster, looser, and more varied than a teaching example. Audio examples may be recorded, synthesised, or delivered through other supported technologies depending on the feature, and any of these can differ from the speech of a particular native speaker. Treat audio as guidance to imitate and compare, and expect real speech to sound different. No audio example is presented as the one universally correct pronunciation.

14. Third-Party Information and Names

Educational Content may refer to examinations, institutions, employers, government bodies, organisations, products, or external resources so that learners understand the context of what they are learning.

A reference of that kind does not imply endorsement, sponsorship, partnership, affiliation, certification, or official status in either direction. Xmentra is not affiliated with the organisations it names unless a relationship is expressly stated.

Names, logos, and trademarks belong to their respective owners and are used only for identification and description. Ownership of Xmentra's own Educational Content and the terms of its use are owned by the Terms of Use (/terms) and, when published, the Copyright & Intellectual Property Policy.

15. Third-Party Links

The Platform may link to external resources such as dictionaries, institutional pages, and reference material. Those sites are operated independently, change without notice to us, and are not under our control.

We do not verify their content on a continuing basis and are not responsible for it. Their own terms and privacy practices apply to your use of them; the Privacy Policy (/privacy) explains that our Policy does not extend to them.

16. Availability and Change

The Platform is a product under active development. Features may be added, changed, or withdrawn; Educational Content may be revised or replaced; and maintenance, updates, or technical issues may make parts of the Services temporarily unavailable.

Uninterrupted or error-free availability is not promised. The Terms of Use (/terms) own the treatment of availability and changes to the Services.

17. Personalised Recommendations

Where the Platform suggests what to learn next — a roadmap, a recommended experience, a revision prompt — those suggestions are educational guidance based on the limited information available to the Platform about your activity.

They are a reasonable next step, not an assessment of you and not necessarily the optimal path for every individual. You are free to ignore them, and choosing your own order does not break anything.

18. Learning Progress Indicators

The Platform shows progress in ways that are meant to help you keep going, such as confidence responses and bands, progress indicators, practice results, quiz scores, and recommendations.

These are learning aids. They reflect what you have done on the Platform and what you have told us about how you feel. They are not assessments by a qualified examiner, not measurements of real-world proficiency, not equivalent to any official language level, and not certifications, unless a specific feature expressly says otherwise.

Confidence indicators in particular describe how ready you feel, by design. They are not a score of ability, and they are not used to grade, gate, or judge you.

19. Certificates

The Platform does not currently issue certificates, diplomas, credentials, or formal assessment results.

If certificates are introduced, they will be described clearly as records of completion or achievement on the Platform. A record of that kind is not an accredited qualification, and would not be equivalent to a certificate issued by an examination body, a school, or a public authority, unless Xmentra has obtained formal accreditation and says so expressly.

20. Your Responsibility

You know your situation better than the Platform does, so a few things stay with you:

• checking high-stakes information — examination, admission, immigration, employment, or professional requirements — with the official source;
• deciding how to apply learning guidance to your own circumstances;
• verifying anything you intend to rely on for a decision, including AI-assisted output;
• using your own judgement about what to practise, and when to seek qualified advice.

None of this is meant to discourage you from trusting the Platform for what it is good at. It is simply the division of labour: we teach the language, you own the decisions.

21. No Guarantee of Outcomes

In summary, and without repeating the sections above: Xmentra provides educational assistance and does not guarantee any outcome. This includes fluency or the attainment of any level, examination results, admission or credential recognition, visa or immigration outcomes, employment or career results, certification or accreditation, and any other decision made by a third party.

What the Platform offers is careful teaching, a steady structure, and practice you can use. What happens afterwards depends on you and on others.

22. Changes to this Disclaimer

We update this Disclaimer when the Services change, when new features such as AI Features or certificates are introduced, or where required by applicable law.

• The Last Updated date changes with every edit.
• The Version number increases: a MAJOR increase for a change to the scope of what the Platform offers or the limits described here; a MINOR increase for clarification, formatting, or contact updates.
• A MAJOR change is reflected here before or at the time the relevant feature becomes active, and, once Accounts exist, announced at least 14 days before its Effective Date.
• Superseded versions are retained internally for reference.
• This Disclaimer is reviewed at least every 12 months.
